Fabricon links up again for CEMEX
Maintaining its successful long-term relationship with CEMEX, Fabricon has recently started a 20 week, £2.5m contract to install two new sections of 10 inch diameter steel pipeline which will be used to transport the water/chalk slurry used for cement manufacture.
The new pipeline is 8km in length and is being installed in two sections, it will connect to an existing 15km section which was also installed by Fabricon, nearly ten years ago.
Running from Kensworth Quarry in Dunstable to the CEMEX cement works at Rugby, this new project sees the replacement of existing pipeline which has reached the end of its design life.
Most of the new pipeline runs through rural Bedfordshire and the works are being undertaken using conventional pipeline open cut methodology. The initial design has been provided by the client with Fabricon contributing the detailed design for the road and rail crossings which will be constructed using auger bore trenchless techniques. A significant section of the pipeline runs directly beneath Dunstable Cricket Ground and this will be undertaken using horizontal directional drilling methods.
Fabricon Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Holleran and specialises in pipeline installation, mechanical fabrication and civil engineering works for the gas and petrochemical industries.
