Fabricon secures major project for National Grid Gas plc
Fabricon has recently secured a significant contract, worth almost £1m, from National Grid Gas plc to undertake the diversion of 3kms of high pressure gas pipeline at Layer-de-la-Haye near Colchester.
Constructed using 300mm diameter steel pipe, the majority of the works are open cut with an additional requirement for three sections of the pipeline to be auger bored.
This major diversion is required to accommodate the expansion of nearby Abberton Reservoir which currently borders the existing pipeline. Due to the increased demand for water in the area there are plans to increase the capacity of the reservoir and a consequence of this will be the flooding of land that is currently occupied by the existing pipeline.
With completion during later in 2009, Managing Director, Ken Chaderton said "We are delighted to have been chosen to undertake this project. The demanding nature of the work highlights the skills we have at Fabricon and demonstrates our ability to deliver complex projects successfully."
